Bangladesh News Desk: 17 suspected members of the outlawed Hizb-ut Tahrir group have been put on a five-day remand each.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masuma Rahman passed the order on Saturday (March 8).
The accused are Abdullah, Tariqul Islam, Ahmed Nafis Morshed, Shahadat Hossain, Tanvir Mahtab Rafat, Abu Shohaib, Ashfaq Ahmed, Sabbir Hossain, Rifat Islam Rishad, Al Rafi Sajjad, Redwan Bin Shahidul, Miyaji Abdullah Al Muttaki, Habibur Rahman, Helal Uddin, Asaduzzaman Nur, Tanim Sikder Sihab, Ahmed Nasif and Kabir Kabyo.
The investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Nur Islam of Paltan Model Thana, sought a 10-day remand in the Anti-Terrorism Act case.
The lawyers for the accused applied for bail, seeking cancellation of the remand. The state party opposed this.
