Bangladesh News Desk: The Forest Department has recovered 2500 acres of forest land from an artificial lake created by building a dam in Sonakania union of Satkania upazila of Chattogram.
On Saturday (February 3), under the guidance of Bipul Krishna Das, forest conservator of Chattogram Forest Circle, a daylong special operation was conducted to recover the forest land.
Chattogram South Forest Divisional Officer (DFO) Abdullah Al Mamun said an influential group created an artificial lake by submerging nearly 2500 acres of protected forest of Barahatia forest. Hundreds of farmers were suffering due to this lake. The forest department and local farmers have been making repeated efforts to recover the forest land submerged in this artificial lake for a longtime but it has not been possible due to the obstruction.
