our films of Bangladesh will be screened in Indus Valley International Film Festival (IVIFF) in India’s New Delhi on August 1, according to a press statement.
The festival will be organised by South Asia Forum for Art and Creative Heritage aiming to showcase films from South and South-East Asian nations.
A panel of judges selected films for screening after receiving submissions from filmmakers and production houses across the region.
Bangladeshi coordinator for the festival and head of CinemaKing Monjurul Islam Megh said they sent films to the festival for selections. Four of them were selected which are Sakib Sonet’s film ‘Nolok’ in the popular category as a commercial film, the government-funded Masud Pathik’s film ‘Maya, the Lost Mother’ in feature film category, Mizanur Rahman Labu’s film ‘Mala Bhabi’ in short film category and Anarya Murshid’s documentary film ‘Qasida of Dhaka’ based on folk culture of Bangladesh.
Indian national award-winning film ‘Pataakha’ directed by Vishal Bhardwaj will be screened in the opening ceremony while it will be wrapped up with the screening of ‘Manto’ directed by Nandita Das and starring by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
For ongoing global coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held in online platform from August 1 to August 9. A number of eminent filmmakers and artistes from Bangladesh will join the online discussion during the festival, the press statement added.
