Returnees have been kept under official quarantine first, says BGB
UNB: A total of 41 Bangladeshis returned to the country from Myanmar on Wednesday after serving their sentence in different prisons there.
They came back to Bangladesh through Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar following a flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP).
Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB 2 Battalion, led the 16-member Bangladesh delegation during the meeting.
Arrangements have been made to keep the Bangladesh nationals under official quarantine with the support of the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) and the upazila health officer of Teknaf, according to BGB.
The BGP had detained them for illegal trespassing at different times.
