Five more players of National Football Team were found Covid-19 positive on the second day, following three players testing positive on Wednesday — the first day of the diagnosis camp for the booters, dealing heavy blow to the preparation camp for the FIFA and Asia Cup qualifying matches.
Five players, who tested positive on the second day (Thursday), are – Tutul Hossain Badshah (defender), Sohel Rana (forward), Mohammed Ibrahim (forward), Shahidul Alam (goalkeeper) and Shusanta Tripura (defender).
Seven players, who were allowed to join the coronavirus camp today (Friday) are – goalkeeper Anisur Rahman, defender Rahmat Mia, midfielders Rabiul Hasan, Rakib Hossain, Riyadul Hasan, Arifur Rahman and forward Saad Uddin.
Uncertainty looms large on the training camp as eight players (three of first day and five second day) could not survive the Covid-19 test.
Bashundhara Kings did not permit three of their players when their captain Jamal Bhuiyan and newly-called Tareque are staying abroad.
So it is very much pensive that how many players will be available for the preparation camp ahead of the FIFA and Asia Cup qualifying competitions.
Meanwhile, three players, out of 11 on the first day of Covid-19 camp, were tested positive on Wednesday and the coaches had to go to the fitness camp in Gazipur without eight players.
Masud Pervej Kaiser, deputy of the head coach Jamie Day, who became disappointed after learning the news of five more player found positive, said, “Really it is very much sad news that another five vital players were found Covid-19 positive as I heard it just few minutes back. It is very much alarming for us that finally how many players we will get in the camp,” said Masud in his reaction when talking to the Independent from Gazipur last night.
Masud Pervej also informed this reporter that they did not start the training but the atmosphere of the camp is very much suitable for the players where every facility is available for fitness and outdoor training.
Former national booter Masud Pervej said, “The surrounding is really beautiful and very much appropriate for training with health club, swimming pool, indoor games facilities and two football grounds, are good enough to practise.”
Head coach Jamie Day, accompanied by the newly-recruited three other coaches, is expected to reach on August 17.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and the sponsors Sarah Resort signed an agreement on Thursday to become partners for the assistance of available facilities for the national football teams training and accommodations.TheindependentBD
