As Google online services faced a sudden disruption on Monday evening, users could not stop asking. Google Docs, Google Maps, Google Calendar, Google Slide, Gmail and YouTube were among the affected apps and services, including Google’s enterprise tool workspace, which were down to customers around the world.
Services were restored after about 45 minutes and the company issued a statement stating the issue in this regard.
“Today, at 3.47 pm PT Google experienced an authentication system outage for about 45 minutes due to an internal storage quota issue. During this period users are required to log in experienced high error rates. .
The authentication system issue was resolved at 4:32 AM PT. According to a Times of India report, all services have now been restored. .
Apologizing to the users, the statement said, “We apologize to all those affected, and we will conduct a full review to ensure this problem does not recur in the future.” .
Google suffered a similar disruption in services in August this year. The latest outage is believed to have affected users in various parts of the world including India.
At around 5.25 pm IST, Google – on its workspace status dashboard – said it was “aware of a problem with Gmail affecting most of the users” and affected users were unable to use Gmail.
According to the dashboard, other Google services such as Calendar, Drive, Docs and Meat were also affected. Updates were shared for these other services, similar to updates on Gmail.
Downdetector, which detects outages and interruptions on the network, also showed that services like YouTube and Gmail were experiencing disruptions.
