THE PROJECT FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OF IT ENGINEERS TARGETING JAPANESE MARKET
Staff Reporter, Dhaka: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony took place among Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), North South University (NSU), and University of Miyazaki (UoM), Japan for Post Bangladesh Japan ICT Engineers’ Training (BJET) on February 24 at the ICT Tower in Agargaon of the capital, said a press release.
This MoU has initiated a programme that aims to support the capacity development of Bangladeshi ICT engineers and future ICT engineers who have the potential to create business networks between Japan and Bangladesh. Every year at least 80 students will get chances to enrol in this programme. The first six months of the training module will be held at NSU, and the second three months of advanced training will be held in Japan. Completing the training program will open enormous job opportunities for the Bangladeshi engineering students.
The Career and Placement Center (CPC) of NSU has taken the lead in the project on behalf of NSU from its onset under the leadership of Professor Mohammad Khasro Miah, Director, CPC. NSU celebrated the achievement with the presence of the Chairman of Board of Trustees M. A. Kashem, Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. M. Ismail Hossain, Deans and Chairs from all schools and Directors of all administrative departments.
The CPC director welcomed all the guests and opened the meeting by briefing the guests about the project and MoU, followed by Professor Dr. Javed Bari, Dean, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (SEPS), explaining the benefits of this MoU. The BOT Chairman M. A. Kashem expressed his joy and admiration for CPC’s landmark. He praised the department for their diligent effort to achieve such a milestone and stated that CPC had set a benchmark for other university departments. He said, “Getting an entry card in Japan’s market is a tough scenario. Over there, ensuring the job of around 80 engineering graduates every year is a huge milestone for our nation.” He also added that “Going abroad is not that easy, and we NSU are going to send our graduates every year to Japan’s IT market with a full-time job. We must celebrate this achievement.”
Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam also expressed his joy at such an achievement and wished CPC good luck for the great initiative. Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Dean of School of Business & Economics, and Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Dean of School of Humanities & Social Sciences, and Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Bari, Chairman of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has also congratulated CPC and NSU on this outstanding achievement. Director IT, Mahbubul H. Sarker congratulated CPC and NSU for procuring this massive project among our country’s five other esteemed universities.
