Sports News Desk: Mahmudul Hasan Joy was playing brilliantly and picked up a century against South Africa on day 3 in the Durban Test. His performance helped Bangladesh avoid follow-on as the batters could not contribute much.
Joy became the first Bangladeshi batter to score a Test ton against South Africa. It was also his maiden Test hundred.
The opener played some good-looking shots under pressure to claim his ton. He decorated his innings with 10 boundaries and an over-boundary.
It was not a satisfying start for Bangladesh with the bat. After restricting South Africa for 367 on day 2, their top and middle-order failed to perform well.
The Tigers lost four wickets on day 2 and the start of day 3 was not good either as they lost Taskin Ahmed’s wicket early.
Later, Liton Das came to support Joy, who was looking really sharp from the beginning. Liton was looking just perfect. But just after lunch break he threw away his wicket after scoring important 41 runs.
After Liton’s departure, Yasir Ali came into the middle. But he could not survive much as well. He walked off after scoring 22 runs. The Joy-Yasir partnership was awfully ended which was just starting to flourish.
At the time of writing this report, Bangladesh were 235 for seven and trailed by 132 runs.
