Sports Desk: Real Madrid defeated Espanyol by 4-0 to clinch a record 35th La Liga on Saturday.
A resounding victory for Real, who were superb throughout, cruised to victory in the end as Espanyol ran out of steam.
Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio added to Rodrygo Goes’ first-half goals, and Madrid’s second half was one in which the party atmosphere in the stands was reflected on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos showed his value to Carlo Ancelotti in this game, leading the way for both touches and passes to keep the team ticking over in midfield, and also winning the ball nine times in defence, including via three tackles.
Los Blancos are now 17 points ahead of Sevilla which is too much to be caught with just four games left. Espanyol remain 13th, but even their players know that their performance didn’t really mean much today, as the day belonged to Real Madrid.
