Bangladesh News Desk: The Pandora Papers, a splendid pile of leaked data, has named three more Bangladeshis to have invested in offshore companies.
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) makes Pandora Papers to disclose names of the citizens of various countries including Bangladesh for their foreign investments.
On May 3, ICIJ published the third or final batch of Pandora Papers data on more than 9,000 offshore companies, trusts and foundations.
“The Offshore Leaks Database spans five different leaks, and now includes information on offshore companies, foundations and trusts from seven offshore service providers from ICIJ’s latest investigation on the use of tax havens,” said ICIJ report.
Three Bangladeshis are S Hedayet Ullah and S Rumi Safiullah, hailed from Northern Road of Baridhara DOHS, and Saheda Begum Santi, from Shahjalal new-town of Sylhet.
Hedayet Ullah and Rumi Safiullah invested in TRANSGLOBAL CONSULTING (HK) LIMITED in Hong Kong while Saheda Begum in offshore company Jas Limited.
Rumi Safiullah is Managing Director of Vincent Group. He is former president of Junior Chamber International.
Earlier, Pandora Papers had disclosed two reports, one on October 3 and the other on December, 2021. The first report named different influential persons including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.
The second list disclosed names of eight Bangladeshis including Barrister Nihad Kabir, former president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
Nihad Kabir established a company named Capital Fair Holding Limited in British Virgin Islands. The company was registered on 8 August, 2008.
Another person named in the second list is Islam Manjurul. He established a company styled Oriental Agricultural Chemical Company in British Virgin Islands.
Six others are Saidul Huda Chowdhury, Anita Rani Bhowmik, Sakina Mirali, Mohammad Bhai, Walter Prahmad and Daniel Ernesto Ayubatti.
