A total of 524 people were killed and 821 others injured in road accident last month, passengers’ welfare body Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity said on Monday.
The deceased include 68 women, 73 children and 78 students, said a press release of the non-government organisation.
A total of 204 people died in 197 motorcycle accidents, which accounted for 38.93 percent of the total deaths.
Some 107 pedestrians were killed, which accounted for 20.41 percent of the deaths while 86 drivers and their assistants were killed during this period, which accounted for 16.41 percent of the total deaths.
Meanwhile, at least 9 people were killed in eight waterways accidents, while 16 were killed and four injured in 18 train accidents.
The organisation also placed 10 recommendations to reduce accidents across the country.
