BSS: The High Court (HC) today ordered authorities concerned to conduct a probe against hospitals over allegations of sending back patients without providing them any treatment.
A High Court virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order, asking the health secretary and director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to investigate the allegations and submit a report in this regard by July 21.
The court issued some more directives, including asking the DGHS to launch an online system for victims to lodge their complaints against such hospitals, directing the Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct probe against hospitals accused of realizing exceptionally high fees for ICU service, fixing a rate of oxygen within next 10 days, and conducting corona test within 36-48 hours for patients with deadly diseases like cancer and continuing their regular treatment.
The court came up with the order, after holding a hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard. Barrister Anik R Hoq, Advocates Yadia Zaman and Jamiul Foysal took part in the hearing for the plea, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state.
The court also set July 21 for passing further order in this regard.
