Bangladesh News Desk: The Public Security Division under the Home Ministry has been given the charge of coordinating the law and order in the country with a few months left for the national election.
The Cabinet Committee Chairman and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told reporters after a meeting on Law and Order held at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.
He said the responsibility was given to the secretary of the Public Security Division sensing the tendency of creating anarchy to be created by some political parties ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The minister said that there is a tendency among some political parties to possess illegal weapons, conducting sabotage, inciting religious sentiment and violating the country’s law and order.
“We have discussed the issues so that we can always be prepared so that no such incident can take place elsewhere in the country,” he said.
The Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department has been tasked with coordinating various forces to maintain law and order, he said.
If there is any attempt to violate the law and order, the secretary will sit down with various forces and will take steps accordingly.
