Sports News Desk: Bangladesh U-19 team came very close to scripting a brilliant run-chase but they eventually fell 13 runs short of matching their England counterparts during their third match of the ongoing Quadrangular One Day Series at the DVR Ground, Mulapadu in India on Friday.
Chasing a massive target of 323 runs, the junior Tigers were left struggling at 209-7 in the 37th over before Parvez Rahman Jibon (60 off 39 balls) and Wasi Siddiquee (32 off 39 balls) shared an 83-run stand for the eighth wicket to bring their side back in the contest.
Edward Jack then removed both the batters on his way to achieve a bowling figure of 5-57 and also helped his side bowl Bangladesh all out for 309 runs in 49.3 overs to register their first win in the tournament.
Ashiqur Rahman and skipper Ahrar Amin also made 62 and 66 runs respectively during the run chase.
Earlier, Hamza Sheikh struck 126 off 119 balls while Noah Thain made 88 runs as England posted 322-9 in their 50 overs after being sent into bat first.
Iqbal Hasan Emon (4-62) and Maruf Mridha ((3-71) shared seven wickets between them.
Bangladesh earlier lost the opening match to India U-19 A team by nine wickets before they clinched a seven-wicket win over India U-19 B team in their second game. They will now face their India U-19 A team at the same venue on Monday.
