Liberation War Museum lifted the curtain on Bijoy Utsab 2023 at its auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka on Saturday.
The festival is featuring discussions, documentary screenings, cultural shows and others.
Different cultural organisations and students of different educational institutions are participating in the festival, which is also featuring programmes marking the Human Rights Day and the Martyred Intellectuals Day.
Voice of Conscience, a documentary directed by Shahriar Kabir, was premiered on the opening day of the festival marking the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.
The festival featured a panel discussion marking the Human Rights Day on Sunday.
Playwright Masum Reza, actress Trapa Majumdar and filmmaker Rezwan Shahriar Sumit participated in the discussion.
Following the panel discussion, Government Music College artistes entertained the audience rendering songs.
A documentary titled ‘The Scrap’, directed by Masudur Rahman, will be premiered on the third day of the festival.
‘The Scrap’ revolves around MV Ikram, a ship that was sunk by naval commandos during the War of Independence.
A documentary titled ‘Jyotirmoy’, directed by Sandip Kumar Mistry, on martyred intellectual Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta is scheduled to be premiered on December 13.
A commemorative programme on martyred intellectuals and cultural show featuring artistes of Chhayanaut will be held on December 14.
Child and adolescent artistes from Kalparekha, Kachikachar Mela, Shilpabrittya, Khelaghar and others will perform in the cultural show on December 16.
Besides, the museum will organise a three-day programme at Jalladkhana Killing Field in Mirpur from December 14.
Bijay Utsab by the LWM will conclude at the museum’s auditorium and Jalladkhana Killing Field in Mirpur on December 16.
