Dhaka office: As many as 512 people were killed and 793 injured in 517 road accidents across Bangladesh in December, according to data compiled by the Road Safety Foundation (RSF).
The mishaps included 213 motorbike accidents killing 201 people, which is 39.25% of the total fatalities, read a press release issued by the foundation on Thursday.
The number of total fatalities increased in December compared to November which saw 467 deaths.
Dhaka division witnessed the highest number of accidents (123) and fatalities (118) last month, while Sylhet division logged the lowest number of accidents (29) with the lowest figure of fatalities (30), the RSF data show.
In December, at least 21 people were killed and 36 were injured in 27 accidents in the capital, according to the RSF.
