Dhaka Office: A Dhaka court sent Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, to jail after a four-day remand in an attempted murder case filed with the Ashulia police station.
Judicial Magistrate of Dhaka district Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Thursday (September 19).
Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ashulia Thana Abu Taher Mia, also the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case, produced the accused before the court after four days of remand and pleaded to keep him in jail.
On September 14, the court placed Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti on a four-day remand in the attempted murder case.
On September 11, a private university student Md Rabius Sunny filed the case with Ashulia Thana alleging Jyoti along with other accused of the case for attempting to kill him.
Other notable accused of the case are– the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former UGC Secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman and UGC members– Dr Muhammed Alamgir, Dr Biswajit Chanda and Dr Md Sazzad Hossain.
Jyoti was arrested from city’s Uttara area.
