Embattled Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Abul Kalam Azad has resigned amid criticisms over irregularities and mismanagement in the health sector.
He submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry, confirmed Abdul Manan, Secretary to the Health Service Division.
The mismanagement and irregularities in the health sector got exposed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Azad got the appointment after former DG Prof Dr Deen Muhammad Nurul Haque went on retirement.
Late, Dr Azad’s appointment was extended twice on contractual basis.UNB
