Assam government on Tuesday announced provincialisation of a total of 3,980 teachers’ posts under the directorates of higher education and secondary education.
The total posts of teachers, provincialised by the Assam government after 6 long years, include 3,049 posts under the directorate of secondary education and 931 posts under the directorate of higher education.
The state government has also announced provincialisation of a total of 355 educational institutes under the directorate of secondary education.
These provincialised educational institutes include 197 high schools, 9 higher secondary schools and 149 senior secondary schools or junior colleges across Assam.
Assam government has announced provincialisation of 27 colleges across the state.
Announcing this during a press conference in Guwahati on Tuesday, Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Assam government has provincialised a total 355 educational institutes under the directorate of secondary education and 27 colleges under the directorate of higher education.”
He also said, “A total of 3,049 teachers’ posts under the directorate of secondary education and a total of 931 posts under the directorate of higher education have also been provincialised today.”
Sarma said, “We have provincialised a total of 931 posts of college teachers today including 241 posts under 27 colleges and 690 leftover posts.”
“The first lists of provincialisation of educational institutes and teachers’ posts have been approved by the Governor today and the lists will be available on the websites of the directorates of secondary education and higher education,” Sarma said.
The education minister also announced that the government would hand over scooties to all the 22,000 girl students, who cleared this year’s Class X examination under the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) securing first division.
“We will hand over the scooties to the girl students, who have secured first division under SEBA this year, before the month of October,” the education minister said.
He announced that 300 LP and ME teachers, out of 6000-7000 teachers, will be handed over appointment letters in an event to be organized at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra on August 27.
The education minister also announced that the degree colleges in the state would increase 25% seats only for those students, who have passed higher secondary examinations under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
He also said the state government has decided to organise the Teachers Day’ on September 5 in presence of only 150 teachers in an auditorium of 1,000 seats and at the district level, the Day would be organized with only 50 teachers.
Keeping in view of the COVID19 pandemic, there will be no participation of students in the Teachers’ Day functions, Sarma said. Source: Nenow
