Assam: Umananda Devalaya to remain closed for devotees till October 31

Umananda Devalaya in Guwahati will remain close for visitors till October 31, informed Secretary of the Devalaya managing committee Anil Kumar Bhattacharya.

Speaking to the media Bhattacharya said that the Devalaya was closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The decision to extend the closure till October 31 has been taken in view of the pandemic and rising water level of the Brahmaputra.

Umananda Devalaya is a temple of Lord Shiva, which situated at the Umananda Island, also called the Peacock Island, in the middle of the Brahmaputra. Source: NE NOW
