Agartala: Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today appealed the artists to carry forward the state’s cultural activities the way Bollywood maestro Sachin Dev Burma had shown many years ago.
“Sachin Dev Burman is one of the glaring stars of the Indian music. His talent still remains unquestionable. We must follow his footstep to enrich our music and culture”, he said while adding a programme to mark his birth anniversary.
The programme was organised in Rabindra Bhavan by maintaining social distancing and other safety measures. Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Abhshek Chandra remained present in the programme.
“Sachin karta was a music director and singer. A member of the Tripura royal family, he started his career with Bengali films in 1937. He later began composing for Hindi movies and became one of the most successful and influential Bollywood film music composers”, he said.
Deb stated, “We are still proud of what he had done several years ago. Sachin Karta’s son- Rahul Dev Burman also made a mark in the Indian music. The works will inspire the younger generation in the years to come”, he said.
The Chief Minister further said the government has taken steps to enrich the state’s culture and heritage. “The government has already envisaged a plan of setting up Cultural Hub with an estimated cost of Rs. 200 crore. It will showcase not only the culture of the state but also highlight the Northeast’s culture”, he added.
Deb said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought major changes in defence, healthcare and education. “He has been active in presenting the country’s tradition, culture and arts on a global platform.
