Md Anwar Ullah: Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin, who proved his mettle as a successful organizer and clinched the victory against all defences, said that good work is the key to win.
Salahuddin, in an interview with The Independent on Monday, commented on the significance of his triumph for successive times despite so many criticisms and propaganda against him in the last two years.
“Winning for the fourth time is not significant but an evaluation of my work by the delegates and the councilors, who have franchising power and voted for me as they belong to football,” said Salahuddin while letting out his words after fourth consecutive triumph in the just concluded Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) election.
“They are working for football. They know what I did. I think they evaluated my works and they are the right persons to appraise your works,” he said.
“All the voters, who have been working for football are not from social media or Facebook. They do not remain busy in criticizing others in the social media but working for different clubs and organizations. They made their decisions in my favour. They are the right persons to select the right one for the chair,” said Salahuddin.
“I am here to work with football and to think about interest of the booters. So, I tried my best to be devoted to my duty but I did never concentrate on those propaganda against me.”
“I think, I did something for the development of football in my last three terms and the councilors elected me again this time.”
“Those, who are talking much days after days, actually, don’t work for football and most of them do not have any activities with football at all.”
“You see, if you are in the chair with some duties then there would be so many criticisms against you and your duty is not to fight with them but to work sincerely and result will surely come in your favour. It is an easy equation but not significant for the fourth successive win.”
“I think it is an appraisal of my works and obviously very much encouraging and honor for me that they have kept their faith on me,” Salahuddin replied to a query.
Meanwhile, curtain of the BFF poll dropped on Saturday with a great enthusiasm after surpassing enormous suspense, thrills and anxiety and very predictably Salahuddin retained his post at the end of the day.
Salahuddin eliminated all the challengers on the way to his fourth consecutive victory. In 2008 he defeated the then heavyweight candidate Major Gen Amin Ahmed. In 2012, experienced Abdur Rahim gave walkover to Salahuddin and in 2016 he defeated his opponent.
Finally, he outclassed his opponents with a huge margin of votes (94-40).
