Trinath and Savita Kumari, Port Blair: A large number of residents of Mayabunder region demanded to provide more Doctors and Specialists in Dr. RP Hospital at the earliest.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Mayabunder, a group of islanders informed that during the last visit of Secretary (Health) and Director of Secretary (Health) of A & N Islands, general public had demanded posting of specialist doctors at Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder but till date Administration has not paid attention to it, at present not even a single specialist is available in R.P. Hospital which is known to be the District Hospital of N and M Andaman.
The Islanders further pointed out that critical patients are being referred to CHC Diglipur and Port Blair.
“There is an urgent need for the posting of General Surgeon, Gynecologist, Anesthetist, medical specialist and other specialists along with other technical equipment on priority to ensure better medical care at Dr. R. P. Hospital, Mayabunder.
A group of Islanders, who signed the said letter have expressed their anguish towards the Administration for not taking any favourable action in this regard and demanded all the facilities at the earliest.
The Islanders threatened to hold a strike on 18.11.2021 to press these demands and also mentioned that they might also go for road block in this regard. Source: Andaman Sheekha
