Port Blair: As a part of Union Territory wide stir, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) along with other outfits on Wednesday staged massive demonstrations at all three districts on a 27-point charter of demands. The protest was organized under the leadership of ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder, guidance of the Member of Parliament Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma and motivation of ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG. Bhasker.
Addressing the protesters, Mr. Halder said that “if the farm bills were enforced, crores of farmers and farm labourers would lose their works. He said that the PM will be thrown out of power by a “storm” created by the voices of poor. He said that Indians have understood the current situation prevailing in the country and the Congress and it’s frontal organizations have a job to remind them that they need not to fear any force but challenge it”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bhasker claimed that “the Constitution is under attack from all sides in the country. He also alleged the BJP led Central Govt. for destroying small and medium business in the country by demonetization and GST”.
All Congress leaders in one voice condemned the detention of AICC General Secretary Smt. Priyanka Gandhi on her way to Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. They said UP Govt. and BJP should be held responsible for the incident.
Blaming the Centre, the protestors said BJP leaders were unconcerned about the sufferings of the common man. Further, the protestors demanded 100% job reservation for Islander youths, revival of Pradesh Council, stop privatization of PSU’s, establishment of Central University, stop supply of materials through Government-e-marketplace and so on.
The protests were also attended by NSUI National Secretary Miss. Mamatha Nerlige along with many other Senior Congress leaders including Smt. Shanta Laxman Singh, Mr. Hamid Ali, Mr. Mohammed Ali, Mr. Sheik Faruk Alam, Mr. Masih Lugun, Mr. Noor Islam, Mr. Gyan Prakash, Smt. Pushpanjali Raju, Mr. V.K Abdul Aziz, Mr. Subir Chander, Mr. Sanjiv Mondal, Smt. Ratna Kannan, Smt. Mariyam Bibi, Mr. Mangal Singh, Mr. Sanjay Chowdhary, Smt.
