Bangladesh Desk: Bangladesh has moved two steps ahead of Myanmar in terms of military power this year, according to an index released this week by military power watchdog Global Firepower.
According to the organization, one of the most important factors in this ranking is the military budget of the concerned country. The size of the army, navy and air force strength are also taken into account in the study.
The United States is at the top of the world in terms of military power, followed by Russia, China, India and South Korea. Despite being a nuclear power, Pakistan is ranked 12th. Bangladesh is at 35th place on the list. Bangladesh’s neighbor Myanmar is in 37th position.
The total population of Bangladesh is more than 16 crore. Of them, about 6.61 crore people are eligible to join the military. The total number of soldiers in the Bangladesh military is 1.63 lakh. The Bangladesh Air Force has 17,400 members and the Navy has 25,100 members.
