– Deals include sports, agriculture

Nurul Islam Hasib, Dhaka: Foreign Minister of Brazil Mauro Vieira will visit Dhaka on April 7 and 8.

An agreement and three MoU would be signed during the visit, Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said while replying to a question on Wednesday.

Those deals would be related to sports, agriculture and defence sector cooperation.

The visit is “very significant”, the foreign minister said.

The Brazilian foreign minister will bring a 24-member business delegation. They will meet the leaders of Bangladesh’s apex chamber, FBCCI.

“Brazil is a big country and their purchasing power is also big. So, we have scopes to enhance our trade relations,” Hasan Mahmud said, adding that the market in South America remained mostly unexplored.

Bangladesh mainly imports edible oil from Brazil.

The visiting minister would call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and have a bilateral meeting with Hasan Mahmud during his visit, among others.
