Sports Desk: Bangladesh clinched the under-19 Asia Cup 2024 title after beating India by 59 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (December 8).
The bowlers showed their mastery in defence of a paltry total of 198 runs as they dismissed India for 139 runs in 35.2 overs.
Pace bowler Iqbal Hossain Emon and Azizul Hakim bagged three wickets each while Al Fahad who scalped two wickets for 34 runs in a dominating display. Besides, Maruf Mridha and Rizan Hossan took one wicket each.
This is Bangladesh’s second consecutive victory in same venue. In 2023, the young Tigers beat UAE by 195 runs in the final to secure the maiden victory.
Rizan Hossan was the top scored for Bangladesh. He scored 47 runs facing 65 balls. Shihab James scored 40 as Bangladesh, posted a below-par score after being asked to bat first.
Iqbal Hossain Emon was awarded ‘player of the match’ and ‘player of the series’ for his outstanding performance.
