Sports Desk: Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 105 runs in the third and final ODI of the three-match series to escape whitewash at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Wednesday (August 10). With this, the visitors escaped whitewash as the hosts trounced them in the first two matches.
In the third match, Bangladesh, thanks to 85 runs of Afif Hossain, scored 256 runs by losing nine wickets in 50 overs.
Afif (not out) hit 85 runs off 81 balls with six boundaries and two over-boundaries.
Anamul Haque smashed 76 runs from 71 balls with six boundaries and four over-boundaries.
Mahmudullah Riyad scored 39 runs and Tamim Iqbal posted 19 runs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged 14 runs and Taijul Islam scored 5 runs.
In chase, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 151 runs in 32.2 overs. Their top five batters, all of them departed early as four of them couldn’t even reach double-digit scores.
Ebadot Hossain was impressive on his ODI debut, whereas Mustafizur was the pick of the bowlers with a four-wicket haul.
Though Nyauchi and Ngarava entertained the Zimbabwean fans with their 10th wicket partnership, but that was never going to be enough.
For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman bagged four wickets for 17 runs in 5.2 overs.
Ebadot Hossain and Taijul Islam shared two wickets each.
