Health authorities of the country detected 1,568 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday after testing 12,549 samples in the last 24 hours.
Besides, the infectious disease claimed 18 more lives during the period, taking the total death toll to 5,941, said a press release issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)
The country saw the recovery of new 1,795 Covid-19 patients during the period which boosted the number of total recoveries across the country to 3,25,940.
So far, 4,09,252 Covid-19 patients have been detected in the country since March 8.
A total of 12,549 samples were tested at 113 authorised labs in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 12.50 percent, according to data released by the health directorate.
Over 46.11 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1.19 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The number of cases reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 5,000 on Sept 22.
