Sports Desk: The Bangladesh Cricket Board will discuss with Tamim Iqbal regarding ODI captaincy once he completes his 1.5 months break, confirms an official on Tuesday.
Last week, Tamim decided to withdraw his retirement one day after making a shocking retirement decision but he didn’t disclose his plan of returning to the team as the captain.
“Tamim is going to Dubai. He will go to the UK on July 25 or 26. He has taken two appointments in two medical centres in London,” BCB’s Cricket Operation Chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters in Chattogram.
“First let him come. We are discussing it with him. There is an issue with his fitness. He said – let me come and then will discuss it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jalal added that they will also talk to former skipper Mahrafe bin Mortaza about mentorship in the upcoming World Cup only if he makes any official contact.
“The board will take the decision. He is a member of the parliament. He is an ex-captain. He must come officially. He is a good leader. We will talk to him if he comes to the board,” Jalal concluded.
