The online inauguration of the two-day “Women e-Commerce Entrepreneurship Summit 2020” was held in the capital city on Saturday. Women and E-Commerce Forum (WE), an organization of the country’s women entrepreneurs, organized the mega event inaugurated by Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
The Jatiya Sangsad Speaker said, “I really appreciate this kind of work by women segment of the society. It is a matter of pride for us that the Women and E-Commerce Forum is working towards building a Digital Bangladesh in line with the prime minister’s vow.”
As an organization of one million group members, WE is trying to promote the products across the country and beyond the border by bringing together the talents of the country and abroad.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, MP, presided over the function. Newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to Bangladesh Vikram K Doraiswami along with Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Syeda Muna Tasneem joined the online event as the special guests of honor.
The State Minister for ICT said, “I always look after and support all WE efforts. This summit is another milestone in the country’s women empowerment.”
WE President Nasima Akter Nisha, SB Tech Ventures CEO Sonia Bashir Kabir, President of Bangladesh Innovation Forum Ariful Hasan Apu and CEO of Silkok Global Soumya Basu, among others, were present.
During two days of the summit, various issues related to fundraising, logistics support etc came up for wider discussion. HM
