Sports Desk: Before the start of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, The Bangladesh Football Federation decided to arrange the matches at the closed-door stadium due to the rise of the new Covid variant Omicron.
They chose two centralized venues – Tongi and Munshiganj – to host the BPL matches and decided to bar the fans from entering into the venues.
However, they failed to halt the spectators during the match between Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club held at the Munshiganj venue on Monday as around one thousand local spectators were seen watching the game live from the gallery.
The spectators entered the stadium after the match got started and although the police were deployed at the stadium gates, the spectators were successful in breaching the security.
Domestic football doesn’t get spectators when it takes place in Dhaka but the scenarios are completely different outside of the capital as the fans come in large numbers to witness the football matches.
However, having fans at the stadium during the current circumstances could be a huge risk for players and team officials.
