Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) have expressed concern over attack on two journalists at their work station.
The journalist leaders urged the law enforcement agencies to take stern action against the persons responsible for the attack on journalists of The Asian Age and Daily Deshkal.
Recently, a gang of drunken youths attacked at the head office of the media outlets at Old Airport Road in the capital.
The attack occurred at the parking lot of a building housing The Asian Age and the Daily Deshkal. The youths also vandalised newspaper’s vehicles.
Three youths have been taken into custody under Tejgaon police station when the incident came to notice of police.
BFUJ) President Omar Faruk expressed concern over the attack on journalists of The Asian Age and the Daily Deshkal on Wednesday. He said BFUJ is aware of the incident. “We want the criminals are brought to book,” he said.
BFUJ Secretary General Deep Azad has demanded that the law enforcement agencies immediately act to ensure protection of journalists.
DUJ President Sohel Haider Chowdhury and General Secretary Akter Hossain in a joint statement expressed dismay at the attack on journalists by the drunken youths, who also vandalized press vehicles.
In the meantime, DUJ Senior Vice President MA Quddus and General Secretary Akter Hossain visited the newspapers and assured the journalists of cooperation for restoring better working condition there.
