BSS: Awami League Presidium Member Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque came down heavily on BNP leader Moazzem Hossain Alal for his derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and said he should resign from politics and the party.
“BNP joint secretary general Alal’s comment (about Sheikh Hasina) is extremely contrary to our social, political, cultural and religious values. No civilized political activist of any civilized society can make such remarks. He (Alal) should not be in politics more,” he said.
Razzaque, also agriculture minister, came up with the remarks while addressing the triennial conference of the 70 no ward unit of the Dhaka City South Awami League as the chief guest on Amulia British School premises in the city’s Demra area, said a press release.
Urging the BNP leaders and activists to speak maintaining decency by controlling their mouth and tongue, he said, “If you could not control your mouth and tongue, the country’s people know how to handle you”.
Noting that AL doesn’t indulge in vulgar comments rather takes stern actions against those who make such remarks, the minister said, but it’s unfortunate that BNP leaders and activists including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir are indulging in such indecent statements.
Speaking about the verdict of Abrar killing case, Razzaque said the verdict again proved that the government is respectful towards law.
Urging the student leaders to take lesson from the verdict of Abrar killing case, the AL leader said, “If you want to do politics, you have to follow the ideology and spirit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Awami League”.
You (students) should not involve in misdeeds when you come to do politics, he added.
Dhaka South City Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, local lawmaker Kazi Monirul Islam, AL Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi and General Secretary Humayun Kabir addressed the function, among others.
