Staff Reporter: The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has formed a three-member committee to investigate allegations of leaking recruitment examination question papers, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.
The probe committee was formed on Monday night, BPSC Chairman Sohrab Hossain confirmed the matter to media.
Joint Secretary to BPSC Abdul Aleem Khan was made the convener of the committee while BPSC directors Dilawez Durdana and Mohammad Azizul Haque were made member and member secretary respectively.
BPSC Chairman said stern action will be taken against those who will be found guilty. No one will be spared in the incident.
However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police on Monday arrested seventeen people after a private television channel report on Sunday alleged that the question papers for 30 cadre and non-cadre examinations, including BCS, had been leaked, with the involvement of many BPSC officials.
The arrestees are BPSC deputy directors Md. Abu Jafar and Jahangir Alam, assistant director Md Alamgir Kabir, auditor Prionath Roy, former driver of BPSC chairman Syed Abed Ali, his son Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam, office assistant Khalilur Rahman, office assistant (dispatch) Sajedul Islam, former army member Noman Siddiqui, former Dhaka University student and businessman Abu Solaiman Md Sohel, businessman Md Jahidul Islam, security guard of Narayanganj Passport Office Shahadat Hossain, Dhaka Immigration and Passport office staff Md Mamunur Rashid, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital’s medical technician Md Niamun Hasan, Sakhawat Hossain, Sayem Hossain and Liton Sarker.
The television report revealed that a syndicate of six officials and employees of the BPSC had been involved in leaking exam questions for a long time.
