BSS, Dhaka: A two-day programme marking the 47th founding anniversary of the country’s leading cultural institution Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) began on the academy premises Friday.
The programme began with the hoisting of the academy flag at 10am. A discussion and cultural function was arranged at Nandan Mancha at 6pm.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid joined the function as the chief guest with BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Badrul Arefin attended it as the special guest and BSA Secretary Md Nawsad Hossain gave the welcome address.
Earlier, a weeklong exhibition on works of all the departments and offices was inaugurated at 2 and 3 number gallery at Jatiya Chitrashala Bhaban in the afternoon.
Leading artistes, performers and musicians will join the two-day programme marking the founding anniversary.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established “Shilpakala Academy” on 19th February 1974 with the national interest in developing a creative humanitarian nation.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is the only national institute to flourish art and culture.
