Bangladesh has confirmed 21 new deaths from the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the toll to 6,215.
The tally of infections has surged to 4,34,472 as 2,139 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in this afternoon.
Another 1,604 patients recovered from the disease at home and in hospital care, bringing the total to 3,51,146.
A total of 15,768 samples were tested at laboratories across the country during the time.
The fatality rate in Bangladesh is 1.43 percent, the Directorate General of Health Services said.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8.
Over 54.41 million people have been infected worldwide by the Covid-19 and 1.31 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
