Rahul Singh & Savita Kumari, Port Blair: Farmers of Great Nicobar Island, protesting since last four days, demanding procurement of Copra at Minimum Support Price (MSP), have now decided to intensify their protest from tomorrow by cutting the supply of milk and vegetables to the Campbell Bay market.
It is learnt that the demand of farmers regarding the procurement of copra at MSP has not been fulfilled yet and to create pressure on Administration the farmers will not intensify protest.
When Andaman Sheekha Correspondent contacted Mr. Prahlad Singh, a Youth Kissan Leader and Ex-Up Pradhan of Gram Panchayat, Laxmi Nagar, he said that since last four days they are protesting, so far no positive response has come from the Administration. For the past four days protest, rallies are also being organized.
“From tomorrow no vegetable and milk will be supplied to Campbell Bay market as we have appealed to all the farmers, so that we could create pressure on Administration. Tomorrow again another rally will be organized. If our demands are not fulfilled then we will hold Campbell Bay Bandh from Shastri Nagar to Zero Point,” he added. News courtesy Andaman Sheekha
