The High Court (HC) today ordered judicial probe in a case filed over the alleged murder of a schoolgirl who later returned home alive in Narayanganj and the confessional statements of three accused.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order, directing Narayanganj chief judicial magistrate to conduct the probe and file a report by November 4.
The court also set November 5 to pass further order in this regard.
The High Court on August 27 had summoned the previous and the current investigation officers (IOs) in the case. Shamim Al Mamun, the then IO and SI Mostafizur Rahman, the current IO, appeared before the bench with case records on September 17.
The court had come with that order after holding hearing on a plea to file a revision case over the incident.
The girl, a student of class five, went missing on July 4 and her father on August 6 filed an abduction case with Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station.
Police arrested three persons – Abdullah, Rakib and Khalil – who later confessed to raping, killing and subsequently dumping her body in the Shitalakkhya river. But the accused, while talking to their families repeatedly said they were innocent and were forced to confess the crime they did not commit.
In the meantime, on August 23, the girl returned home and said she had run away with her lover and started their family elsewhere after their wedding.BSS
