The High Court (HC) on Tuesday issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain why it shall not order them to take necessary steps to appoint 51 persons, who have been failed to secure appointment as senior staff nurses in spite of passing written and viva exams.
A High Court division bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq passed the order after holding hearing on a writ filed in this regard.
The court asked the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) to comply with the order within the next four weeks. The court also sought explanations of the officials concerned for their recommendations for appointing 5054 people against the demand of 6,000.
“BPSC in 2018 appointed 5054 people as senior staff nurses. But in spite of passing both written and viva exams, 51 people have been dropped from the appointment list. So we had filed the writ in this regard,” one of the petitioners Md Jabrul Islam told BSS.
Barrister Anik R Haque and Barrister Bibhuti Tarafder moved the plea before the court.BSS
