Md Anwar Ullah, Dhaka: All heavyweight teams welcomed the decision of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF)’s initiatives of introducing VAR (Video Assistant Referee) in the Bangladesh Premier League Football following the demand of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the governing body of Sheikh Jamal club Manzur Kader appealed to BFF president to introduce VAR system in the league after a goal was disallowed for foul against their striker Omar Jobe in a match against Abahani Limited on February 13.
The BFF president Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin responded positively to Sheikh Jamal demand, as he has taken initiative to introduce the VAR system to end the controversial referee decision.
However, all the big teams hailed the BFF plan of introducing VAR system to conclude all the controversy with the referee decision when some of the giants’ high-ups talked to The Independent on Thursday on the merits of VAR system.
Satyajit Das Rupu, the longtime Abahani manager and former national star, said that if the VAR system could be installed here it would be a landmark in Bangladesh football.
“If the VAR system would be installed it would be a milestone in Bangladesh football and if we could implement the technology we would be the first nation in the subcontinent to enter the modern technology of football and the federation is trying,” said Rupu.
“The confusion and talking about the decisions is very old, after introducing the VAR system we would be come out from all those talking and criticism.”
Bayazid Alam Zubair Nipu, the Technical and Strategy Director of the Banshundhara Kings highly appreciated the BFF initiatives of introducing VAR system in Bangladesh football.
“Obviously we welcome the idea of setting up VAR system in our football. If it can be successfully installed, the problems with controversial referring would come to an end.”
“This would be very much costly to apply, there would be need experts, numbers of cameras to record the games, India could not install yet. But if we can then we could avoid conflicts are occurred with the confused decisions.”
“You know, referees are all in all on the ground, what the decisions come from them, no way but to accept. If VAR system would be there then we could hope having correct decision.”
Nasir Uddin, president of the Saif Sporting Club opined his views on behalf of VAR system, “I am fully agreeing with this, it is a modern technology to have correct decision. There are so many complains and questions are raised with the referees decisions. We are use to engage with clash with this and relations between organizers, clubs turned into ill.”
“Referees are human being, they can make mistakes, so if implemented the technological referring could be a silver bullet for the troubles.”
Arman Aziz, former national star, now the manager of Chittagong Abahani, termed it essential to set up the technology for avoiding the referring mistakes.
“I think, as good result will come from it, I welcome this system, if BFF could introduce the system, misunderstanding, clashes sometimes turned into violence will be ended.”
“Sometimes referees are assaulted by players, organizers and unexpected occurrences also take place over human and judgmental errors. Referees are also human being so machines may mend the human faults. So it would be very useful to escape from all odds.”
