Trinath; Sarthak Kanjilal, Mayabunder: The long wait of Islanders to drive over the Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge to end soon, as light vehicles (passenger vehicles), will be permitted to ply over the Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge from the end of September 2021.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the District Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan has confirmed that the Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge will be ready for the movement of Passenger Vehicles by the end of September 2021.
Dr. Chauhan stated that arrangements are on to allow heavy vehicles like trucks, tankers, and cargo vehicles on the Humphrey Strait Creek Bridge after a month of permitting the passenger vehicles.
“With the opening of the bridge, the delay people had to suffer because of the movement in Vehicle Ferries, will come to an end,” the DC said.
The Deputy Commissioner added that the structural work of the bridge is completed and the road laying work of the bridge is in its final phase.
“The inauguration of the bridge will also be taking place by the end of September 2021,” the DC informed.
Dr. Chauhan also said that strict directions are given to the NH authorities to bring the NH road under the motorable condition, which suffered damages due to the rain. “NH authorities have also been directed to ensure that no road accidents happen due to the bad roads,” Dr. Chauhan added.
