UNB: The national poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam’s poem ‘Bidrohi’ was rendered in a chorus by hundred reciters at Damuhuda upazila of Chuadanga marking the centenary of its publication.
The rendition of the iconic poem published in Bijli Patrika was held on Thursday.
The recitation was done by artists, journalists, politicians, social workers and the students of Karpasdanga Degree College.
Saiful Islam, general secretary of Nazrul Smriti Sangsad, directed the recitation session.
Earlier, a discussion session was held presided over by Nazrul Smriti Sangsad President MA Gafur.
The speakers discussed various aspects of ‘Bidrohi’ and the other works of the poet.
Senior journalist and lyricist Shah Alam Soni, senior journalist and advocate Rafiqul Islam and chief coordinator of the event Hamidul Islam were present at the discussion session among others.
Nazrul used to visit Karpasdanga in Chuadanga in 1926-27 on invitation of Babu Mahim Sarkar, an educationist from Karpasdanga. The poet used to stay at the house of late Harsapriyo Biswas, then secretary of Nadia Congress, during his visits.
