The long serving president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, the leader of electoral platform Sommillito Parishad, earned a landslide victory in the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Election ’20 to achieve a rare feat of electing BFF president for the 4th consecutive terms on Saturday, maintaining his all-win record in the federation election since 2008.
Salahuddin, who also elected as BFF president in 2008, 2012 and 2016 polls, remained unchallengeable in the key post of president securing 94 votes.
His nearest rival and Independent candidate Badal Roy got 40 votes while another Presidential candidate Shafiqul Islam Manik suffered a humiliating defeat polling only one vote.
Sitting Senior Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedy MP was also elected comfortably securing 91 votes while his lone rival and former national striker cum his district mate Sheikh Mohammad Aslam got 44 votes.
Bashundhara Kings president Imarul Hasan (89 votes), Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP of Dhaka Abahani (81) and Ataur Rahman Manik of Toma Group (75 votes) were elected vice presidents.
Independent candidate Tabith Awal and Somonnaya Parishad candidate Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi got 65 votes each in the remaining vice president post.
The BFF councilors will vote again on October 31 at the BFF House to choose any one of them as vice president.UNB
