Most of the senior leaders of the major opposition BNP are now staying abroad for different purposes, including for medical treatment, at a time when the party is escalating its anti-government movement.
In the latest development, party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Singapore on Thursday for medical treatment.
BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has been undergoing treatment in Singapore as he left the country on June 27.
The party’s another standing committee member Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku left Dhaka for Thailand in May and he is also scheduled to go to Singapore.
Another standing committee member Slahuddin Ahmed has also been staying in Shilong of India for long.
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman along with his family members has been staying in London for long on political asylum.
Meanwhile, a number of leaders and activists of the party have been staying abroad now for different reasons.
