Denis Giles, Port Blair: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has lauded the remarkable contribution of the Andaman guesthouses in Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi, which has played a crucial role in providing affordable and economical accommodation, specifically catering to patients from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
“The smooth operations of the Andaman guesthouse in both Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi have been nothing short of a blessing for our fellow Islanders,” he said.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament said that he has recently received reports from concerned islanders regarding certain issues plaguing the Andaman guesthouse in Chennai.
He pointed out that as per the complaints some rooms are experiencing malfunctioning air-conditioning units, leading to discomfort for the guests. Additionally, there have been complaints about inadequate amenities in certain rooms. Moreover, a significant mosquito infestation has also been observed in the vicinity of the Andaman guesthouse in Chennai.
“Given the prevailing summer season and the intense heat experienced in Chennai, it is imperative that we take immediate action to address these concerns in order to ensure the well-being and convenience of the patients and visitors, who are relying on the facilities of the Andaman guesthouse,” he said.
He requested the intervention of the Chief Secretary in directing the concerned department to conduct a thorough inspection and undertake necessary repairs of the air-conditioning units in Andaman guesthouse rooms at Chennai and improve other amenities.
This will ensure the provision of proper cooling facilities to alleviate the discomfort faced by the people of Andaman, particularly those patients who are currently residing in Chennai in this summer season, the MP added.
