Bangladesh News Desk: Health and family welfare minister Zahid Maleque said the MRCP (UK) examination which is a globally dignified for physicians will be conducted in the country now.
“The MRCP exam carries significance in clinical trials. Around 1,000 candidates of Bangladesh are currently in waiting for this exam. Every year doctors from Bangladesh apply to take part in this exam but the chances are very less,” he said.
The health minister came up with the statement while speaking as chair at a meeting relating to MRCP (UK) Part-2 (PACES) exam, at the ministry conference in the secretariat on Tuesday.
At present, candidates from Bangladesh can take part in this exam in India and Singapore while there are the MRCP examination centres in other countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Egypt, and Malaysia.
Mentioning that these international centres are not only costly but also difficult for participating in the exam, the minister said if the exam is arranged in the country then it will be beneficiary for the country and its physicians.
Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Prime Minister’s personal physician Prof Dr ABM Abdullah, Director General of Directorate General of Medical Education Prof Dr Md Tito Mia and Pediatrician Prof Dr Sahidullah among others were present at the meeting.
