A science fair, Olympiad and quiz competitions were held in Bogura on Thursday to promote young scientists and enhance their capacities.
Sadar upazila administration of Bogura organized the programmes with support of National Museum of Science and Technology (NMST).
Students of different educational institutions of the district town took part in the fair.
NMST Director General Md Munir Chowdhury attended the fair as the chief guest while Bogura deputy commissioner Md Ziaul Haque presided over it.
Addressing the event, Munir Chowdhury said “By implementing the invention of the young scientists, quality of lives of the citizens should be hiked, air pollution curbed and offences prevented.”
He also said the incidents of river pollution, sand lifting and destruction of natural resources may be instantly detected using drone.
NMST director general also advised students to apply creative faculty in receiving education shunning habit of memorising lessons.
About patronising scientific activities, he said NMST is providing financial and material supports to science clubs across the country.
