Vikramaditya & John Wilbert, Port Blair: Residents of Shaheed Dweep have been facing a huge inconvenience due to the present rule of verification of passengers, who have obtained double dose of vaccine.
As per complaints received here before travelling to Shaheed Dweep, passengers have to do their verification of double dose certificate from Municipal School near Netaji Stadium.
Residents of Shaheed Dweep allege that presently, after purchasing a ticket from the ticketing counter at marine jetty, they are asked to go all the way to the Municipal School near Netaji Stadium for verification of double-dose vaccination certificates.
Many remote villagers, elderly travellers and patients are finding this new system too troubling. Many, who are unaware of this new system, directly come to the jetty after purchasing a ticket but from there they are sent back.
To address this problem residents of Shaheed Dweep are now demanded setting up a counter for verification of double dose certification at the jetty. Talking to Andaman Sheekha ex-Pradhan of Shaheed Dweep, Mr. Ramakrishna Biswas said that the present system is not only confusing but problematic for many remote islanders who have no idea where to go for verification of double dose certificate.
When contacted a senior officer of Health Services told Andaman Sheekha that this matter will be taken up with senior officials and necessary measures will be taken. News courtesy Andaman Sheekha
