Ahmadul Kabir, Malaysia: Malaysia’s immigration police have detained as many as 561 migrants, including 205 Bangladeshi nationals, in a special drive.
The detainees are citizens of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia, Sierra Leone and Cameroon.
They were held in a special drive in Bandar Tasik Pangchapuri Baiduri area on Friday. Immigration Department Director General Datuk Ruslin Jusoh led the operation.
The drive was conducted following allegations by local people against illegal migrants living in residential areas and 561 migrants were held after checking documents of 752.
The allegations against them include not having personal identification documents, overstaying and violation of the Immigration Act.
